The goal of Altus Explorer is to inspire and reveal the diverse and enchanting aspects of mountain nature through content diversification, creative professional photos, thoughtful routes - mountain maps and friendly design. With an emphasis on personal approach, it invites the user to discover nature according to their own capabilities. The ultimate goal is to recognize the inestimable value of nature and understand the importance of its connection with it.
With love for nature
Altus Explorer is a specialized web platform with routes, maps of routes - mountains and hiking trails, with points of interest and experiences for the Greek nature (mountains, forests, lakes, gorges, wetlands of rare beauty, rivers, waterfalls, caves, etc.). It is not based on filling it with mountain gps routes, but on categorizing the rich data collected from each natural-mountainous landscape (eg lakes, rivers, shelters, ski resorts, national parks, cultural monuments, natural monuments, species of flora and fauna, etc.) and in this way you can make personalized search according to your measures and capabilities but also inspire you with the rich visual material!
Data collection from fieldwork
The list and categorization of the hiking routes presented on the website are created by on-site mapping and recording exclusively by the administrator of the website!
During the mapping of paths and forest roads, every detail is recorded, such as ground morphology (soil, stones, rocks), vegetation, fauna, natural events, dangerous spots, etc. and added to the list to search for them and learn about the experiences that nature offers!
Meet the creator
Altus Explorer has been created by Lambros Sotiriou where he is actively involved in mountain hiking and nature photography both in Greece and abroad.
He studied Graphic Design where he graduated from the University of Northumbria in New Castle in 2000.
The great "adventure" began in 2002 when he founded the creative office Oxygen Design which he maintains until now. It provides branding, packaging, websites, maps creation services, has collaborated with recognized major international brands concerning the design of their products but also with the promotion and promotion of Greek nature for Greek and international organizations.
He has founded another business activity concerning product photography pixelica.gr and artistic nature photography where he promotes abroad in a creative way the "treasures" of Greek nature!
Simultaneously with his professional activities he worked for 15 years as a teacher in Greek colleges.
